Thanks everyone for your ideas. I checked with my agency, who in turn asked the client. Apparently it's an incredibly internal concept that involves 'delayed differential delivery', so still none the wiser! I will post here if I ever get a definitive answer.

I think we all think 'rush' comes into it, but is this negative i.e. the transporter is nearly late, or is it intentional i.e. the transporter puts himself out to make the delivery. Perhaps you need to look at the other questions in the questionnaire and see where this one fits in.

immediate It is a really tricky one, very hard to work out the exact meaning. I agree with Sharon that it sounds like it could be a no-time-wasting thing; I came across:
"la solution adaptée à vos transports urgents! un coursier dédié enléve en moins d' une heure; vos plis, colis, palettes et livre en foulée ou à horaire convenu." and
"Livraison dans la foulée, ou avec petit délai"
both of which seem to suggest "immediate delivery", without waiting to organise a delivery time. I also saw an "ultra-rapide" reference somewhere (tho' can't re-find it!). So maybe "immediate delivery" is the way to go?

Rush delivery I found these uses of foulée in offers by transporters:
'livraisons ultra rapide (dans la foulée)'
'pour une livraison soit foulee dans la journee ... soit le lendemain matin'
looks like rush or rapid delivery to me

on the way to other deliveries or I got a sense of delivering just that specific parcel so as not to waste time. Pick up the parcel and deliver it straight away with no stop offs on the way. In that case would direct delivery or immediate delivery fit the bill.

I know Sharon, it looks like it should be straightforward, as it's very close to the idea of "express deliveries" but there's something more that I'm missing. I think it could be when items are delivered "on the way" to making other deliveries, but if this is the case then I'm not sure what the EN equiv is.
