Hello Prozians,


We often have .idml files to translate using Phrase. The segmenting is not as fluid as in continuous Word files.

You will often get e.g. a headline spread on several lines and therefore broken down into several short segments.

Problem is, you end up in situations where:

Business
School

should be translated as Ecole de Commerce (for French): the syntax is reversed – in French, it reads ... See more

should be translated as Ecole de Commerce (for French): the syntax is reversed – in French, it reads the equivalent to "School of business".

If you check this segment, the TM will be polluted with an entry showing "business" -> "school of" and another one for "school"->"of business"

Is there a way Phrase to validate a segment without entering it in the TM?

I believe that for the situation you describe you can join the two adjacent segments (Ctrl+J). So

Business
School

Becomes

Business School

and the TM will be correct.

Not as far as I know. However, one thing you can do is to change the setting that confirms a segment immediately after you leave it. This will allow you to have different translations for the same source text. Unfortunately it means that you won't be able to see whether you have dealt with a segment, unless you always translate from top to bottom.

Yes, joining segments would work, but in these cases, they do not show as consecutive segments in Phrase.

We often get a situation along the lines of:

Business
Segment X
Segment Y
[...]
Segment Z
School.

I had it in my mind that I had seen a way to exclude it. May be it was not for Phrase.
