Seeking help with application to Spanish agencies

Hi,

I was just hoping someone could help me. I'm applying to Spanish agencies for freelance work, but have been advised to write the covering letter in Spanish (rather than English). I've drafted a letter but am a bit rusty on business Spanish and want to hit the right tone and appear professional. I'd really appreciate it if any Spanish speakers (preferably native) could have a quick look and tell me what they think of the style/ grammar/ terminology etc.

Due to circumstances, I'm a bit isolated and don't have any native Spanish speakers I could ask.

Estimados Señores:

Quisiera ofrecerles mis servicios como traductor autónomo. Conseguí ultimamente la Maestría en traducción y soy hablante nativo de inglés. Realizo traducciones de español a inglés y de italiano a inglés.

Me especializo en los campos siguientes: Comercio (general), finanzas, seguros, informática, medicina (incluyendo psicología, neurología y farmacología), medioambiente, deportes, y música.

Sin embargo, esta lista no es exhaustivo y considería otros tipos de text, si siento que tengo el conocimiento suficiente del campo particular.

Mis tarifas estándares son:

Traducción, ES > EN - xxxxx por palabra de lengua de orígen. (xxx mínimo)
Traducción, IT > EN - xxxxx por palabra de lengua de orígen. (xxx mínimo)

Revisión, (EN) - xxx por hora. (xxx mínimo)

Además, ofrezco un descuento de 20% para los dos traducciones iniciales.

Realizaría con mucho gusto una prueba de traducción si sea necessario. Adjunto una copia de mi currículum, y quedo a la espera de colaborar con ustedes.

It's not a lot, but I hope it helps. Just an idea, maybe you can highlight the idea of being native speaker is an advantage not just for grammar matters but also for provinding knowledge about text types, habits and other cultural matters.

Thanks Angela, that's a great help. As I'm sure you know, it's difficult to write in the foreign language and be confident that everything sounds correct and professional. I'm a bit embarrassed about the basic errors, but glad you pointed them out!

I just needed a bit of reassurance so I could apply with confidence so thanks again for your help.

After : , we usually don´t write capital letters although there´s an exception: at the beginning of a letter.

Here are some more suggestions. There may be more to be made, but I think your version would gain a lot by adding them. Nonetheless it is a clear and effective letter, I believe.

Hi James

ES agencies generally pay badly, so it's probably wise to state your rates and stick to them. Be sure to apply to agencies abroad too, in my experience they pay 30%-50% more than the going rate in Spain.
