El avance y perfeccionamiento de las tecnologías nos acostumbró a esperar siempre algo más, algo nuevo, algo superador. Lo “viejo” pasa a ser sólo un escalón más en el progresivo avance hacia el “futuro”.
La computación perceptiva es un concepto clave: se llama así a la extensión de los sentidos de cada persona en su computadora. Estas son las computadoras del futuro que contarán con nuevas interfaces humanas a través de la tecnología táctil, el reconocimiento facial y de voz por interacciones basadas en gestos. Actualmente, una persona promedio se conecta a Internet entre cinco y ocho horas al día, un 54% de las personas buscan conectividad diaria y, según datos de Intel, se estima que para el año 2020 habrá 25.000 millones de dispositivos inteligentes conectados.
Unos ejemplos son:
Probador virtual inteligente. El prototipo del Espejo Mágico es una pantalla que funciona como el espejo de un negocio; excepto por el hecho de que, en lugar de una superficie reflectante, hay una pantalla de alta resolución capaz de identificar el tamaño y las medidas de quien está ante ella. Así, crea un avatar en 3D que responde en tiempo real a los movimientos de la persona. The system includes navigational functions, but can also show information in real time, such as engine diagnostics, current weather, traffic, etc.
Medicine. Intelligent diagnostics tools allows medical technicians to send patient data to the doctors at a regional medical center for analysis. This means taking advanced medical services to people in remote areas where there are no labs or even doctors.
