I was born in Belgium so my native language is Flemisch (or Dutch). I started French at school when I was 6 and English at the age of 12. I have a high school degree in Modern Languages (Dutch/French/English/German). In Belgium, I worked as Assistant Manager in a restaurant for 2 years after I began working for General Electric for 5 years. Before I came to the States in 2002, I was employed by Thomas Cook (major European travel agency) in the Neckerman Incentives department where I was an Account Executive and constantly dealt with translations, interpretations, summarizations and editing/grammar proofing for documents in French and English (some minor work in German) to Flemish/Dutch and vice versa. I moved to the USA in 2002 with my American husband who I met in 1993 in Belgium. I worked in an airport in Florida for 15 years before I became the Visitor Experience Manager at Visit Sarasota County. I love languages and feel very comfortable reading, writing, and or talking in the ones I am familiar with. I am looking for a way to get back into using all my language skills and am hopeful I can do it right here via ProZ.
