I have lived in Slovenia for over 4 years, where I obtained my Bachelor degree with honors in Translation (Slovene - French - English). On my return to Belgium (mother tongue: Dutch), I immediately continued with the European Master in Translation (Dutch - English - French) as to be able to provide full quality. Before my moving to Slovenia, I obtained my Bachelor degree in Eastern European Languages and Cultures (Russian and Slovenian), and my Master degree in Contemporary Literature Science with honors.
I have been working for several years now as a translator. My translation career started in literature with the translation of the novel 'Berlin' by Ales Steger from Slovene into Dutch. During that same period I worked as a translator for the translation agency Veris, where I realized the Slovene webpage of the European Union on business, which was a very enriching experience. A few months later I realized the Slovene webpage for tourists and Erasmus students in English, Dutch, French and Slovene. Later on, I started working for the translation agency Alamma and translated tourist brochures for Wizzair airlines from Slovene into Dutch. In the meantime I gave private instructions of French to beginners. After my return to Belgium, I started working for Oneliner Translations, where I currently still translate general law, governmental and environmental texts for Brussels, cultural texts, marketing and publicity for Decathlon (sports). I would like to continue translating environmental and governmental documents, EU law, as well as touristic and cultural texts. Furthermore, my fields of interest include science and economy, and human and social sciences.
In short, I am a freelance translator with a passion for languages and cultures, highly motivated to provide professional quality. I have a university level education in translation and have gained practical experience, communication and organizational skills over the course of years abroad. I am continuously extending my language skills and improving my quality. |
