As CEO of my own company, ACFairbank Consulting, a sole
proprietorship, I offer over forty years of experience as a
translator. Having received my linguistic education in Vancouver,
Quebec, California, France, Switzerland, Spain and Belgium, I have a
Bachelor of Arts degree in French and Spanish from the University of
British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada as well as a Master of Arts in
Translation from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at
Monterey in California, USA.

After working six years as a linguist in Belgium, first for the
Agricultural section of the European Union and then in Law publishing, I
spent eight years in Hong Kong as chief translator and interpreter for a
multinational Timber manufacturer. I have also worked in the Caribbean
providing translation and interpreting assistance in six languages for a
company involved in Tourism. Business and leisure activities combined
have taken me to six continents and over a hundred and thirty-five
countries and have provided me with a detailed insight into numerous
cultures.


Using English as my mother tongue and my fluency in French and Spanish, I
now freelance as a translator, editor and
proofreader. I am a certified Spanish to English translator via exam of
the Society of Translators and Interpreters of British Columbia
(STIBC), Canada as well as a Certified Member by affiliation of the
Canadian Translators, Terminologists and Interpreters Council (CTTIC).
Furthermore, I am a certified French to English translator by exam of
the American Translators Association and a certified Spanish to English
translator of the Ordre des traducteurs, terminologues et interprètes
agréés du Québec.
