Terme ou expression en français : evidente urgence due au peril
For the following French sentence I have given two translations below. I understand the overall meaning but the words "évidente urgence due au péril" have me a bit stumped.

"Toutefois, ces soutiens réalisés rapidement en raison de l'évidente urgence due au péril, constitués de bois non traité pour une longue exposition et de section trop faible ne sauraient constituer une garantie à long terme".

1)However, these supports, which were quickly set up owing to the clear urgency of the situation, were made from wood that had not been treated to withstand lengthy exposure and had cross-sections that were too weak to provide any long-term guarantee.

OR

2)However, the clear urgency of the risk led to the hasty set-up of wood supports that had not been treated to withstand lengthy exposure and had cross-sections that were too weak to provide any long-term guarantee.

I find the syntax a little complicated in the French and I'd welcome any ideas to improve my renderings.

Many thanks

Helen

Explication :
Agreed, the French is (typically) convoluted. How about breaking it into several chunks? "Supports were set up quickly, because of the obvious urgency of the situation. However, these supports were made from wood that had not been treated to withstand lengthy exposure, and were not thick enough. Therefore, they could not ensure any long-term protection." Hope this helps, HC

Thank you very much - I didn't expect you to translate the whole sentence! I agree that the English reads less clumsily if split up into smaller sentences. I'm glad to see that you kept my translation of "situation" for "péril" as "risk" really wouldn't fit here. Thanks again!
