I believe this is at least one common term used.

Note that GDT lists 2 other terms I was not familiar with (and which I have to say I have some doubts about!), but NOT this one.

En termes de technique de marine, "shears" désigne la "bigue" et "to bend a chain cable " est "étalinguer une chaîne".

disagree Tony M : That kind of 'shear' is what is known as 'shear legs', nothing to do with 'shear force' in mechanics. / Yes, but it's nothing to do with the force here, which is not specifically maritime at all.

Oh ! "shear legs" est bien bigue (à trois montants), voir le lien, ça n'a rien à voir avec le cisaillement, voir les termes maritimes
