@ JML I suspect a non-native speaker; maybe this isn't a HUGE storage tank, but just some sort of reservoir? I'm sure all would be abundantly clear if we only had the whole context with illustrations etc...

I am reminded of the torture machine in Kafka's Penal Colony. It is described in excruciatingly precise details, but you can't figure out just how it bloody works! Similarly, how can a filler or a storage tank be shaped as an O-ring channel, groove or what have you? It don't make sense. Maybe I inadvertently took two stupid pills this morning, instead of my usual one.

How are you reading this? Two interpretations spring to mind:

The product storage tank is located above the filler (which is in the shape of an O-ring channel).

The product storage tank is in the shape of an O-ring channel (and is located above the filler).

@ JML Nothing bizarre about it, J-M. They've just used 'channel' instead of 'groove' or 'housing'...

Normalement... je dirais rainure de joint torique. Mais ça ne tient pas compte tenu du contexte. C'est bizarre, cette description.
