Hydrophones are made from piezoelectric material cased in rubber inside solid streamer cables that have a diameter of approximately 5 cm. The cable sections of the streamers will be connected together with electronic modules that digitise the signals from the hydrophones to an optical carrier that returns the signals to the recording system onboard the vessel.
