Terme ou expression en anglais : Recess
Bonjour,

Je ne comprends pas à quoi ce terme fait référence. Il apparaît dans un document relatifs aux noyaux ferrites =>
Spring recess
"cores usually have recesses which allow the core halves to be held together by two spring clamps snapping into these recesses".
The recesses consist of a flat spring rest and a locking ridge.

Merci par avance pour votre aide !

logement
Explication :
If you are looking for the most general possible word, describing its function rather than its form. It is in essence a kind of housing — a space to 'house' the spring.

Otherwise, it might be a 'renfoncement' or an 'encoche', or even a 'rainure' — but these risk being too specific for a generalized cases, as this seems to be here.

The illustration kindly found for us by SafeTex exactly illustrtaes what Asker's source text is talking about: you can see not just the 'groove' in the side, but also, the "flat spring rest and a locking ridge". Seeing it illustrated in this way that exactly corresponds to Asker's context makes me more confident than ever that 'logement' is the correct term, as it is specially shaped to 'house' the end of the spring clip.

Reference information:
This illustration shows just one of the very many different type of ferrite cores available; I chose this one simply because the recess is clearly visible: in this model, it happens to be just a sort of 'groove', but of course many different designs exist.

Hello
I've just tried to answer a similar question before seeing this one. I have a reference similar to Tony's but where you can see the springs.
I like "logement" and think we may now have enough info and answers for the asker to make a choice or concoct something together himself

Accord  Tony M: Yes, that's a very similar type, but the drawing shows the recess better, and also illustrates the special shape mentioned in Asker's text: this is exactly the reason I am convinced 'logement' is the correct term here, more than a simple 'groove'.
