In a preliminary sale contract, under the section on liability related to the construction:
"Débiteurs : les débiteurs des diverses garanties dont l'acquéreur peut bénéficier à la suite de l’achat sont :
a / the VENDOR-constructeur pour la totalité de la construction ...."
While I can understand that we're talking about those who have to pay out under the guarantee, I'm at a loss to find a way to translate "débiteur" here. (Well, it is Saturday evening^^). They're not guarantors, are they?? I'd be grateful for some help, please!

patrickfor Jan 26, 2014: un débiteur in french is somebody who owes something to somebody. so why not using DEBTOR then?
Mark Owens Jan 26, 2014: guarantor sounds good. These are the people who can be pursued if the party breaches the contract under English law.
Samuel Woodward Jan 25, 2014: I would have thought something simple like "guarantee provider", so: "the various guarantees/warranties enjoyed by the purchaser shall be provided by..."
