The following sentence appears in a property due diligence report as part of the description of the property: "la partie centrale comprend : une avancée triangulaire du hall d’entrée en rez-de-chaussée, qui se poursuit au premier étage, puis se prolonge aux troisième et quatrième étages dans de moindres proportions, pour disparaître au cinquième étage". According to my construction dictionary, an avancée is an overhang or eaves, but I can't see how that would fit in here.

Comment: "Thanks very much!! I also proposed Odette's answer to my client, as I felt that her reasoning was very valid in this context."

opens in a triangle
I don't think it is an overhang here, as it mentions the groundfloor and the next ones being planned in the same manner.
I think the hall widens inward into a triangle.

Note from asker:
Odette, thanks very much for your answer. It definitely made the most sense within the context of my translation. However, for the general proz glossary, I have selected "projection" as I feel this would probably make more sense in most cases. Thanks again! |
