Discussion

Non-ProZ.com Aug 31, 2004:
OK, I see - I wasn't sure what other category to choose, but this is basically about an online forum, it's not really technical in nature. I hope that helps, thanks for your notes.
RHELLER Aug 31, 2004:
what type of projects/tools are we talking about here? systems/networks is a vast field
Non-ProZ.com Aug 31, 2004:

oops, I mean dasheS, obviously
Non-ProZ.com Aug 31, 2004:
I posted the sentence in which this appears, so outside posting more of the document (which, like all professional translations performed, is considered to be a confidential work product), I am not sure what "further context" could be given.

The dashed (-----) refer to the name of the project, which I will not post on a public forum, for obvious reasons.
RHELLER Aug 31, 2004:
difficult without further context

instrumentalising experiments

Instrumentalisation seems to be referred to in English texts. Otherwise the remainder of the sentence seems explanatory - perhaps "using" would do in the context.

"not instrumentalising educational research and research findings as a more or less arbitrary pool from which to draw useful information for legitimation and relief strategies. Educational research is not an instrument for politically reducing complexity."
