Sentence: Didn't her mother use to sweep the chimney every year? Worried it could poison them in the night, smoke them otu like foxes; the thought of danger bringing out the glint of drama she harboured.

After her mother's death, a young woman goes back to the house she used to share with her.
She is with her six-year old daughter.
Rural environment. It's winter, cold and wet and she can't light a fire.

My attempt: Sa mère ne faisait-elle pas ramoner la cheminée tous les ans ? Inquiète de s’intoxiquer dans la nuit, de se faire enfumer comme des renards. La sensation d’être en danger fit jaillir l’étincelle du drame / de l'accident / de la tragédie qui sommeillait en elle

Je garderais l'idée du feu qui couve en elle et qui attend la première occasion pour se rallumer, car à mon avis, ici, "glint" fait un peu écho aux braises d'un feu de poêle ou de cheminée, et je compenserais avec le verbe "raviver" comme Solen.

Bonjour à tous ! J'aime bien "tendance/propension à dramatiser" après je me demandais si on ne pouvait pas trouver quelque chose de plus visuel. Le "harboured" indique clairement que c'est un "air"/une "expression" qu'elle affiche, qui se peint sur son visage.

Autres suggestions : "la mine effrayée"/"l'air épouvanté"/"une lueur d'angoisse"...
