Below is the sentence. It is the last part that I don't quite get "si ton imaginaire..." although to be honest as to "tu nouais le vital espoir..." I have my doubts whether "you knot the vital hope of discovering the smell and taste of her skin.." is the best translation.
"Tout en regagnant la rue, tu nouais le vital espoir de découvrir l’odeur et le goût de sa peau si ton imaginaire et la réalité s’alliaient sans demander de comptes."
