Norwegian term

kar

Norwegian to English Other Livestock / Animal Husbandry Fish farming
Does anyone know what a "kar" is in the context of fish farming? I also need to know what "opphav" and "hele utsettet" mean here.
Context: På ”fiskegruppe” angir du om planen er på en bestemt kar, et opphav eller hele utsettet, ved å skrive inn et passende navn.
This is from a manual for a computer program for fish growth plans.

vessel, container

Agree with previous contibutor, but just to specify a container holding water and fish on land, as opposed to anchored nets (not, nøter).
"Hele utsettet" comes from the verb "å sette ut", ie put yngel or smolt out into larger nets or containers, and in this context would therefore refer to the entire batch of fish. Et opphav, a smaller batch, not too sure, but perhaps from one spawning female, a bit context-dependent.

container

opphav = origin
utsett does not exist- but I guess it should be utsetning and as such utsetning = arrangement

vat

Although this is a field I know very little about, my intuitive guess was "vat", so I did a few searches on "vats" + "aquaculture" or "fish farming" (searches with "vat" in the singular bring up too many hits concerning VAT (mva), so recommend using the plural form). These provided a lot of hits where this term was used, or where "vats or tanks" was referred to. This might be worth following up.
