English term

sit them in ‘chunks’

English to Chinese Other Education / Pedagogy
The best way to make sure that children make good progress is to make sure that they never fall behind.
This can only be achieved by regularly monitoring and assessing a child’s performance and that is why national tests have been introduced.
The tests are developed in such a way that some children will be able to {sit them in ‘chunks’}.

謝謝!

沒有,就這一處!

sit是参加(考试)的意思。
不过,in chunks似乎不太好理解。
文中别处有没有出现这个chunks?

一些跟教学考试有关并涉及 exam/test in chunks 的页面:

My daughter is a junior and has ADHD, Inattentive type. She has had a 504 since 8th grade with one modification being extra time on tests. This year, her Algebra II (most difficult class for her) teacher decided that to prevent her from going home and looking up answers, she was going to give her her tests in chunks. So she can only see one part of the test at a time and cannot go back to other parts.

另一个比较清晰的描述:

This book is very clear and will be the only book you'll need. I passed with flying colors on my first try and this is the only book I used to study. It comes with two practice exams in the back of the book. I highly recommend doing the first exam in chunks. For example, after you read and study the math section of the book do the math section of the first test. Do the same with the verbal and writing sections. This REALLY helps the material sink in. Then once you've read the book and done the first test in chunks pick a day to do the second exam in its entirety. You'll have the material down pat after this. Good Luck.
