I have never seen this particular term in Polish.. ...though my acquaintance with statistical/mathematical modelling is limited to social sciences/psychology, and fairly basic.

I can only speculate that maybe it would be some form of a higher level theoretical construct that appeared as an artifact of the analysis process and just didn't fit the original framework? Because how else could an unwanted variable make its sneaky way into anything?
