Portuguese term

respirador de fuga

Portuguese to English Other Human Resources Safety Procedures Standard
Does anyone know what this is in English, I can't find it anywhere. I am right on the deadline, so any quick help would be greatly appreciated.

There is no context it is a a heading describing this type of Respirator for protection of airways, but here is the text which follows the heading:

a) respirador de fuga tipo bocal para proteção das vias respiratórias contra gases e vapores e ou material particulado em condições de escape de atmosferas Imediatamente Perigosas à Vida e a Saúde (IPVS).
E - EPI PARA PROTEÇÃO DO TRONCO
E.1 - Vestimentas
a) Vestimentas para proteção do tronco contra riscos de origem térmica;
b) Vestimentas para proteção do tronco contra riscos de origem mecânica;

Thanks for your feedback, Laura. That's really the way KudoZ should be....it's a forum for all of us to learn and there should be a rule that Askers should (not only out of courtesy) give some reasoning why they chose a particular answer....what made it fit their context and so forth. A lot of the Askers here don't bother to say a single word and those of us who contribute on a regular basis are just left in the dark whether our suggestions were useful or not, we'd like to know, so that we all learn. Anyway, have a great WEEKEND!

Escape Respirator is industry standard Hello everyone. I appreciate your input and great ideas to translate this term. However, I did a little research and "Escape Respirator", or mask, is the industry standard term for this item. The text is very detailed, describing in great detail many different forms of respiratory protective equipment, and so it was very important to use a distinctive term for this particular item.

Laura,

My pleasure to help. I know exactly the feeling on beating those deadlines......our mind just keep drawing blanks with all the anxiety :) But then it's such a relief once we finish the project, right ?
Note from asker:
Thank you, Gilmar. I will give you the Kudoz points once the 24 hours has passed. Laura
Yes, you are so right that it is a relief to finish and to feel confident that you got it right! Thanks again.

Gas mask

I can´t think what else it could be....
Note from asker:
Thank you suesimos, but this is too generic, and not quite what this respirator is used for. As I explained above this document is an Occupational Health Standard and is super detailed, describing precisely lots and lots of different respiratory protective devices, so I really needed a very specific term. Thanks for your help!
Peer comment(s):

agree Nick Taylor : I would go for this generic term

or simply Emergency Mask
Note from asker:
This is a good suggestion, but the text includes another term for this so I can't use it here or it would be confusing. Thank you.
