Discussion

Ryan Armbrust Diaz (X) Mar 3, 2011:
Phillee I get your point about disambiguation. It's just very tricky when working in the SAP world as they don't take too well to variations and such. Btw., I like your option "management of regular customers".
phillee Mar 3, 2011:
@Ryan Don't get me wrong. I think your suggestion is a valid one. I am just providing an alternative. So 'management of regular customer (data)' is also Ok in my books.
phillee Mar 3, 2011:
@Ryan 'Repeat customer' googles on sap.com as well
I don't really trust Googling as a decision criteria.
Surely the nomenclature depends on the SAP client's choice and the type of business.
Furthermore, as we know from Starbucks 'regular' can also mean 'normal' in US-EN.
'repeat' disambiguates this.
@Horst: 'Daten verwalten' is a definite 'manage' in my experience. As far as I understand, this tool is for managing the customer data, not interacting with the customers.
Horst Huber (X) Mar 2, 2011:
"Pflege" verges on nursing, and so "care" would seem the word -- except would it seem insincere? Would "service" or "support" work? And would "clients" be preferable to "customers"?
Ryan Armbrust Diaz (X) Mar 2, 2011:
All options would work, I suppose. But we're in SAP World here, aren't we? As far as I know, SAP is quite stringent about their terminology. The term "regular customers" is a given. Just google it in connection with sap.com. The rest is flexible, e.g. a tool for managing regular customers etc.

Peer comment(s):

agree philgoddard : It could also be "account customers", ie those who have accounts rather than making one-off purchases.

neutral Cilian O'Tuama : maybe correct but unclear whether care of regular customers or regular care of customers (and the word "regular" does not seem to be contained in your references)// Any evidence that "reg. customer care" is "definitely what SAP uses"?

(tool of) customer care for regular company clients

Try this in your context.
Example sentence:

It can also work as a tool of customer care for regular company clients and help to strengthen their long- term connection.

care of existing customers

I see it as differentiating between customers already on the books and new customers, i.e. "existing customers"

Management of repeat customers

organisation of ... rather than caring for ... IMHO - see 'Verwaltung Ihrer Stammkunden' in the original text.
I think Repeat Customer is used frequently and is a more precise description.
