Salt in a Thermo-Solar plant
Salt here is the generic chemistryl name of a family of simple compounds like NaCl, KCl, etc. (check a chemistry handbook). Salt mixtures (secret) are used in molten state in a thermo-solar plant to store energy at high temperature (hundreds C). I guess fusion is either the mixing of the various salts used or the melting process. Ask at Solar Millennium or Solel (acquired by Siemens) - two Thermo-Solar companies I know about.
