Nunca he oido 'overwrapping' y aqui no va. Segun tu explicacion de ahorrar en materiales de envoltura, este termino me parece lo mas adecuado.
Si se trata de un producto comercial, el termino seria 'packaging' en vez de 'wrapping'.
