Nothing new! Translation (mainly) + transcreation + editing/revision/proofreading. I’ve done some PEMT this year but I’m planning to stop offering it as I’m not happy doing it (too much work for too little pay).

My services are the same ones as last year: translation, editing, proofreading and post-editing.

On the post-editing front I think I did less MTPE jobs than last year. The vast majority of projects was translation and editing, so no signs of the approaching AI Apocalypse yet. I wouldn't be surprised if at least some agencies start to realize you can't get the same translation quality if you expect your translators to work at half their translation rate (or even less in the case of t

I already have my hands full with my translation and revision/correction services, not to mention keeping the house, garden, livestock (one dog, three chickens and occasionally marauding cats) and vehicles in some semblance of order.

No, I have considered dropping one! Dec 8, 2022

Call it what you like, editing, revising, QA or proofreading - or the delightful Norwegian språkvask, which literally means language washing. I no longer do it very often.
I used to enjoy checking and revising well-translated texts, but these days they are few and far between. I am already very picky about which clients I do it for, and what I take on, but I am seriously considering dropping the service altogether.

As for offering new services, I have reached the stage in my career where I need a very good reason to invest time in getting good enough to do it properly. I prefer to keep polishing the skills I already have.
However, I have changed and offered new ´services´ many times in my working life, and it is the only way to survive if you don't have a pension coming in every month to pay for the absolute basics.

Translating is not what it was when I signed up in the last century, and when I can no longer keep up, I will wish younger generations all the best, and stop!

I share your dislike of checking other translators' work, but I see språkvask (copy-editing) as a completely different beast. In my case, it normally means sorting out English texts written by foreigners, including Americans. It's not the most exciting work but it doesn't leave me disheartened in the same way as checking translations, because non-natives can't help making mistakes.

Thank you for this word, I agree that it is utterly delightful. I'm imagining an old-fashioned laundry service with a wringer for the "cut the crap" stage where my too-literal draft is relieved of all the filler phrases and intellectual flights of fancy that makes French such a lovely language, to turn it into a more prosaic, down-to-earth text that's more palatable to the English.

Subtitling Dec 10, 2022

After years of experience in translation, I recently decided to get specific instensive training in subtitling, and have added it now as part of my services.

Yes, an agency provided paid training and test and I accepted and now I offer it as well, never say no to new opportunities though the 'text' if you can call it such, is a bit vague as you only get snippets not a whole story.

I started interpreting phone calls. Dec 12, 2022

ProZ gave me the necessary training and invited to the special platform Boostlingo for calls interpretation. I am very glad for this opportunity, because this job keeps me in shape as an interpreter.
