French term (edited): signification; signification-commandement

I think that your original context is Belgian. This is a notice to pay. Indeed, "signification" means notice, although out of context, from some of the 70 Proz glossary entries for "signification", it sometimes may appear otherwise.

There's one entry for "procéder à la signification de..." and the suggested anser is" go ahead with the service of notice.." It would probably have been better from a style point of view to have considered "procéder à" as "to serve". "Go ahead with" is not quite legalesy enough. There's another exemple with an entry for "signification de la notification". Again, it means looking at the specific context. I haven't opened the question, but I suspect it is not "notice of the notification". Context is the clue, of course.

Here's an indication of what you term probably means. I think it needs to be read as in the original "signification-commandement" as it seems to be a specific term. Whatever term might be used in the US for "notice to pay" would probalby work well.
