When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

Del 85%, solamente una proporción se presenta como amoniaco, nitratos y nitritos. La parte faltante está unida a otros compuestos. Así pues: "El resto/la parte restante (para alcanzar el equilibrio estequiométrico de 85% o 2,3 mg/L de nitrógeno soluble), se considera/asume que se encuentra unido(a) a la materia orgánica en disolución."
Igual con el nitrógeno insoluble:
"... o aproximadamente 15% de la concentración total de nitrógeno. Se considera que el nitrógeno insoluble está unido al detrito".

Sigo pensando en otra opción. Se me ocurre:
"Se asume/considera que el balance/equilibrio (de masa/estequiométrico) resulta cuando se toma en cuenta el nitrógeno (soluble) unido a la materia orgánica disuelta".
De esta forma se incluye el término balance/equilibrio (de masa/estequiométrico) en la frase, aunque es más largo y se desvía un poco del original, pero esa es la idea que quieren transmitir en inglés.
