French term
vendre le premier
Être entrepreneur ne se résume pas à gagner une fortune en vendant des milliers de produits, c’est d’abord adopter la bonne attitude qui permettra de vendre le premier !
I'm not quite sure I'm understanding him right, so I welcome your input!

Sep 22, 2017 17:11: mchd changed "Level" from "PRO" to "Non-PRO"
Non-PRO (3): writeaway, Rachel Fell, mchd
When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.
How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:
An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)
A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).
Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.
When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.
* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

: If this is actually the correct meaning of the term then I would go with this variation. The expression sounds very English spoken-style, which is important for an interview IMO.

: That would be "être le premier à vendre" - and I don't think "being the first to sell" makes sense. The first to sell what?

Lorraine Dubuc
: Not the right meaning in my opinion. It is about having a winner attitude that allows to sell your first product.

: At first sight, this is how I read it. I now consider that "le premier" clearly means "le premier" of the "milliers de produits".

The implication perhaps being that once you've sold one product, all the others will follow.

: the first one of what? I don't see any 'en' in the French/faire quelque chose le premier. it's not unusual French

I don't think you need an "en".

: to sell things that can be sold without requiring mastery of manipulating and deluding people. Otherwise referred to as "selling something you can believe in".
