Selected
incident/tangential/oblique light
Termium: OBS: The technique consists of illuminating the document to be analysed, in the absence of any ambient light, by means of a thin beam of light practically parallel to its surface, or at a very slight angle (20 degrees).

: Oblique light sounds right to me. I also see that the Termium definition is in the field of police/optics - maybe this is something to keep in mind?

: The others are possible, but "incident light" is definitely wrong. It is used for measuring the light that falls upon a subject, in contrast with the light that is reflected from the subject - a black cat doesn't reflect as much light as a white one.

May not sound very elegant, but this is the common term in English for the more elegant common French term.
