Hello,

I need a software that converts pdf files to word files. I have to calculate the characters to put in an estimate for a translation.

But all of these converters have problems converting EOL properly as many mistake these as end of sentence markers.

So they will all need some cleanup effort

I agree. Finereader (I have version 9.0) is very helpful, even when dealing with poorly scanned documents.

finereader for spanish language May 14, 2012

I am working most of all with spanish texts and use finereader 11 (probably, the latest version) to convert pdf or scans to word. Never had to edit the results... here there is a more detailed description http://latam.abbyy.com/finereader_espanol/

I agree, FineReader is great. But I usualy use it for recognition. In my opinion, it is better (and cheaper) to use PDF Transformer that was made to convert PDF in other formats. The same developer, good quality.

Really good piece of software this. And not too expensive either. Glad I checked this page, only wish I'd known about this a lot earlier - would have save me a lot of time and anger.
