I have installed DVX2 on my machine but never used it for any real job.
How would you proceed with a job consisting of 80 doc-files, with 112 k words and (according to Trados analysis) 87 k repetitions? So that you need to translate each segment only once and also the proofreader need to correct each segment only once?

A little more information... Aug 31, 2013

If you run the analysis in DVX2, how many segments are we talking about? (remember to check the "Intra-Project Analysis" option when running the analysis, which is analogous to the "Report Cross-file Repetitions" option in Trados)

segmentation differences between Trados and DV Sep 2, 2013

DV of whatever stripe segments texts differently from Trados, so you may not get the same repetitions as in Trados. Do you have the Trados-prepared file, or simply an analysis report and an unmodified document?

try this Sep 3, 2013

Import all files into ONE project.
Make sure that AutoPropagate is activated in the Options menu.
Start with the first file. If set correctly, repeating texts should be automatically propagated to identical segments, once entered.
Create an external view file of the finished project. Propagated sentences will have a user-defined colour in the status column. Tell the proofreader to ignore the lines with that status colour.

Hope it works!

Another approach Sep 7, 2013

Here is how I would proceed:

1) After importing the project, you display the entire text in one single view (by double clicking on the project name in the Project Explorer).

2) Then you choose to display all segments in alphabetical order (by clicking on the button with the letters AZ and the downward arrow).

3) You go to Project>Find duplicate segments. Then Déjà Vu will only display duplicates, and you can lock the repeated segments with Ctrl+Shift+K (

4) After you are finished with the translation, you chose File>Export>External View and tick the option "All except locked rows". Or if you do not want to tick that option, you just tell your proofreader to ignore the empty (yellow) segments.

5) You reimport the edited External View file back into your project

6) You send the project into your TM (Alt+F12)

7) You lock the finished segments

8) You display only the empty segments and mark them as "Unlocked"

9) You go to Translation>Pretranslate to fill up the empty segments

Hope this helps!

Kind regards,

Olaf
