Bird Photography couldn’t have been simpler than this…

Confused? You guessed it right… it isn’t simple and it couldn’t be simpler as well.

Bird photography, in the true sense, is far from what can be imagined in comparison to the several other genres of photography. I make this statement because, here we aren’t talking about the photographer who shoots birds on the go… a true bird photographer isn’t just the one who prefers to spend the Sunday morning walking in the woods and keeps clicking photographs of, whatever birds that come on the way… and sometime he also gets diverted by the Chameleon that is basking on the rock or by the wood spider hanging down from the overhanging branch. I am talking about that bird photographer, who spends months studying the birds behavior, doesn’t jump with the camera as soon as he gets a glimpse of a bird, doesn’t open his mouth when he in the forest, keeps coming to the same riverside again and again, days after days to get the best picture of the bird or spends the entire night waiting for a good catch or waits for hours in the hide for the bird to return.

পাখিদের ছবি তোলা বা বার্ড ফটোগ্রাফি, প্রকৃত অর্থে অন্যান্য ধরনের ফটোগ্রাফির তুলনায় অনেকটাই পৃথক, এবং এই পার্থক্য কল্পনারও অতীত৷ আমি এমনটা বলছি কারণ, আমরা এখানে এমন চিত্রগ্রাহকদের কথা বলছি না যারা চলতে চলতে ছবি তোলেন... পাখিদের একজন প্রকৃত চিত্রগ্রাহকের কাছে শুধু রবিবারের সকালটা বনে ঘুরে বেড়িয়ে চোখে পড়া সমস্ত পাখির ছবি তোলাই সব নয়... বা পাহাড়ে রোদ পোহাতে থাকা গিরগিটি বা উঁচু গাছের শাখায় ঝুলতে থাকা বন্য মাকড়সা দেখে মাঝেমধ্যে আহ্লাদিত হয়ে পড়াই সব নয়৷ আমি পাখিদের সেই চিত্রগ্রাহকের কথা বলছি, যিনি পাখিদের আচার ব্যবহারের ব্যাপারে জানতে মাস ব্যায় করে ফেলেন, পাখির দেখা পেলেই ছবি তুলতে ক্যামেরা নিয়ে ঝাপিয়ে পড়েন না, বনের পরিবেশের সঙ্গে নিজেকে মানিয়ে নেন, পাখির সেরা ছবিটি ক্যামেরাবন্দি করতে একই নদীর ধারে দিনের পর দিন বারবার আসতে থাকেন বা কোন ভালো মুহূর্তের ছবি তোলার অপেক্ষায় থেকে সারা রাত কাটিয়ে দেন বা পাখির ফিরে আসা পর্যন্ত ঘন্টা ধরে লুকিয়ে থেকে অপেক্ষা করেন৷
