"Il profumo del Primitivo è di frutti rossi con descrittori di amarena, more e prugna e una sempre maggiore sensazione di frutta sotto spirito con l’aumento del grado alcolico"

Any ideas as to how I can translate "frutta sotto spirito"? All I've come up with so far is liqoured fruit but I'm not very confident.

Oopps, Sorry, brandied fruit has already appeared in the comments, see Barbara Carrara's comment, which is, imho, very to the point.

neutral  Lisa Jane: preserved fruit doesn't necessarily mean in alcohol and fruit infused alcohol only refers to the liquid minus the fruit. frutta sotto spirito is a specific flavour and not just "fruity".
7 mins
  -> "Alcohol" is redundant - it's obvious from the context. And "fruit-infused" is poetic licence. Basically they're saying it's very fruity.

"liquored fruit", "fruit-infused liquor", "fruit liqueur"

Explanation:
"Fruit preserved in alcohol" is a heavy mouthful, insufficiently pleasing for a text trying to attract us to the wine. "Fruit soaked in alchol" is awful; this isn't laundry we're talking about. "Fruit-infused alcohol" is readable and tempting but doesn't solve the double use of "alcohol", mentioned as a problem.

Example sentence(s):
  • Garnish the drink with a slice of liquored fruit for extra flavour.

They are marked 'referring to aroma', as is the already suggested 'fruit liqueur'.
I haven't included those mentioning 'alcohol', since you'd rather avoid the repetition.
