French term
responsabilisant
French to English
Marketing
Business/Commerce (general)
A term search here has only provided 'empowering' (which is particularly frustrating as that is usually a difficult word to render in French!), but that doesn't fit in my context, which is:
- "La donnée est rendue auditable, infalsifiable et responsabilisante", and
- "En supprimant les barrières entre les acteurs, en mettant en place la communication multilatérale et en faisant de la donnée un facteur responsabilisant, la confiance entre les acteurs augmente et la qualité des relations s’en voit fortement améliorée."
This is about the need for transparency in supply chains and the idea is that organisations need to be held responsible. (At least, that's my understanding.)
I currently have, in both cases, 'establishes responsibility' but I'm still not 100% convinced. Can anyone come up with anything better please?

accountable

Thanks Patricia, and of course! |
I had block on 'accountability', which is, of course, the best word. In retrospect, I think I'll go with 'creates accountability'. |

2 hrs
sharing the responsibility / making it a shared responsibility
I would sayf:
The first time:
"...and by sharing responsibility for (of) the data" (amongst actors)
The second time:
"...and by making the data a shared responsibility"

encourages people to be more responsible
People need to take greater responsibility for their actions. They may also be accountable to someone or to an organisation. They can (and should, in my view) be responsible even when they are not accountable to anyone but themselves (or God). There is a distinction between responsibility and accountability, so I would say "encourages people to be more responsible" or "encourages people to take greater responsibility".
Note from asker:
Thanks for your contribution, Gordon. In a more general context, I would agree with you but here, given that this is about supply chains, I think the sense is, indeed, accountability. |
