It is actually a typo.. should be "environmentally preferred"

I believe it is an error and should be "preferred" rather than "proffered".

From the logic of the context, I would guess it is meant to mean 'products that are promoted (sold) as being (allegedly) environmentally-friendly' — but that is by no means what it actually says :-(
