French to English Bus/Financial Finance (general) type of loan
In a special mandate, a director give his authorisation to sign the following documents following the purchase of a company:

convention de prêt d'action à la consommation [name of company]
convention de cession d'actions
conventions de remboursement de compte courant [of previous shareholder]
convention de compte courant entre [new owner/company]

I have never heard of "prêt d'action à la consommation!"

note this company is in Ivory Coast

any ideas?

I did a search on open end loan on Termium and came up with the term (for open end credit line) ligne de crédit illimité, or ligne de crédit non plafonnée

Thyat's your problem Phil, you seldom can; the share credit( i.e, the option and cash loan to buy shares) is being extended for use ( consommation) should they wish to avail themselves of the offer;

agree philgoddard : I think this is probably correct, but what do you make of "consommation"?//Despite your helpful reference, I'm still not clear what it means, though that's my fault! It's clearly a loan of shares, though.

agree Edgar Bettridge : Your link explains this very well but the concept still does not make much sense - interest must be lower than dividend yield for employee to be incentivised, and he/she does not get capital appreciation. Perhaps this is why the concept is unfamiliar?
