Você não precisa traduzir changes aqui. O termo termorregulação já implica ajustes (changes).
Pelas pesquisas me parece que o central é mesmo relacionado ao sistema nervoso central e que as funções de termorregulação são exercidas pelo hipotálamo. Isso só pra constar, acho que é informação demais para o seu texto.
