This is question for Spanish translators only, preferably living in Spain, although Latin American input is welcome too:
"Skynotes"is the name of a software program for making websites. The Australian client would like to know whether translating it into Spanish would look better to the Spanish community or whether it is better to leave it in English, (eg. "Microsoft").
I would appreciate very much your opinion about this issue. Client wants to present a user friendly, easy to use product.

Es un nombre que suena bonito en inglés. La traducción española también suena muy bien, "Notas del cielo" o "Notas celestiales" (especially this one, which would correspond to the English "Heavenly notes").
Pero me temo que esto no sea lo más apropiado para un software. Creo que el público está acostumbrado a dos tipos de nombres en software:
1- palabras en inglés (suena "obvio", pues el mundo de la computación tuvo la mayor parte de su desarrollo en países anglófonos);
2- palabras únicas, sean éstas en el idioma que sea. Un ejemplo: ADOBE, si bien uno en principio lo asocia con viviendas de barro y paja, este nombre "pegó" muy bien en el mercado.

O sea: si se insiste en traducir este nombre, pensaría algo así como "CELESTIAL", "ESTRELLAS"; u otra cosa totalmente distinta.

I am not in Spain but software names in english work well anywhere (Word, Power Point, Wordfast, Database, etc.) and Spain or other spanish speaking countries are not the exception. However, you are doeing right because you must always check that a commercial name do not have a pejorative meaning in the country before introducing it to the market or any other cultural interpretation that could jeopardize its commercialization.
