Upper and lower cases on Mac (Maverick)

Hello
I'm new with Mac. I've just switched to a Mac running Maverick.
I installed Wordfast PRO and everything is (almost) smooth.
I'm having problems in general with a few shortcuts, such as upper and lower cases, and not only in Wordfast.

Does anybody uses Wordfast who can give me a few tips?

And any other tips about Mac from collegues who switched from Windows to Mac?
