Source text - French Pour célébrer notre nouvelle parcelle, mon père a planté un arbre. Juste à droite de notre tente. Ammi en a été la première surprise :
– Mais qu’est-ce que c’est que ça ?
– J’étais vers Kurla Complex où ils viennent de terminer un grand building en verre. On devait transporter des plantes vertes, des arbustes et des pots de fleurs pour la décoration des bureaux ; et comme il y a eu quelques dégâts durant le transport, on nous a demandé de jeter les plantes abîmées...
– Et que veux-tu en faire ? À qui veux-tu le revendre ?
– Je ne veux pas le vendre ! Je vais le planter ici, près de chez nous !
– Oui, si tu veux, je ne comprends pas bien pourquoi mais si ça te fait plaisir...
– Shamin, quand cet arbre va grandir, son feuillage nous fera de l’ombre l’été et retiendra la pluie pendant la mousson.
– Ce n’est pas bête ! a répondu Ammi en tournant les talons. Je dois passer chez Shirin, surveille Azhar !
Je trouve cette idée brillante et je propose tout de suite à mon père de l’aider. Avec des bâtons et des pierres nous avons creusé un trou dans le sol entre notre mur en zinc et la toile de tente mitoyenne. Nous y avons délicatement posé la plante et mis un peu d’eau avant de recouvrir le reste de boue avec de la terre sèche. J’ai ensuite pris quelques gros cailloux pour délimiter la zone de l’arbuste et j’ai averti les enfants de nos voisins pour qu’ils fassent attention à lui. Abba dit que cet arbre a le même âge que moi et que je le verrai grandir en même temps que lui m’observera devenir adulte. Il a pris un piquet qu’il a enfoncé dans le sol et avec deux trois morceaux de ficelle et il en a fait un tuteur. « Pour grandir droit, il faut toujours un maître », m’a-t-il lancé sur un air sérieux.
Translation - English To celebrate our new plot of land, my father had planted a tree. Just to the right of our tent. Ammi was the first one to be surprised by it:
- But what is this?
- I was towards the Kurla Complex where they had just completed a big glass building. We had to carry plants, shrubs and flower pots for decorating the offices; and since there were some damages during the transport, they asked us to throw the damaged plants…
- And what do you want to do with it? To whom will you resell it?
- I don’t want to sell it! I am going to plant it here, close to our home!
- Yes, if you wish, I don’t understand why, but if it makes you happy…
- Shamin, when this tree will grow, its leaves will give us shade in summers and protect us from the rain in monsoons.
- That’s not stupid, Ammi replied and turned on her heels. I have to go see Shirin, watch over Azhar!
I find this idea brilliant and immediately propose to help my father. With sticks and stones, we dug a hole in the ground between our zinc wall and the tarpaulin of the neighbouring tent. We placed the plant there delicately and then a little bit of water before recovering the remaining mud with dry soil. I then took few big stones to chalk out the limits of the shrub and warned our neighbours’ children that they pay attention to it. Abba says that this tree has the same age as me and that I will see it grow during the same time that he will see me become an adult. He took a stick that he pushed into the ground and with two three pieces of string, he made a trainer of it. “To grow up straight, it is always necessary to have a master”, he said to me with a serious look.
With a specialisation in Translation & Interpretation, I obtained my Masters' Degree in French. Since then, I have worked in various francophone environments such as the French Embassy in India, multinational companies such as Alcatel, Aventis Pasteur (Rhone Poulenc group), Geodis. I have thus acquired a linguistic knowledge base in the fields of culture, art & literature, telecom and software, vaccinology and medicine and cargo handling. Since I worked as part of management teams in my last two jobs, my exposure to marketing and management has also increased.
I have recently completed a Specialised Master's programme in International Trade of Wines and Spirits and am now focussing on the Wine trade.

I have completed various technical translations for an agency in India as well as an assignment in European medieval history for an agency in Belgium.
