Negli anni 70 e 80 la cilindrata lievita sempre più e, abbandonati i turbo, ci si indirizza sulle quattro valvole per cilindro. I motori a due tempi, che continuano a farla da padroni nelle piccole cilindrate, si arricchiscono di ammissione lamellare, valvola allo scarico e compaiono definitivamente i miscelatori automatici, che non sono una novità assoluta nel settore in quanto già visti su alcune motoleggere anche dell’est (CZ insegna). I distributori di miscela, quelli con la pompa da azionare a mano, fanno ormai parte del passato.

reed valves
Reed valves are simply a one way valve. They let air or liquid pass one way and not the other. We usually see them in the intake track of a two stroke engine. When the piston of a two stroke engine goes down it compresses the fuel mixture in the crankcase and this can push some of the mixture back out the carburetor. A reed valve in the carb manifold will let the fuel mixture in but not out. This allows bigger ports be used.
