désolé pour la coquille: m'embête
Habib Mahammed (asker) Sep 21, 2012:
Thanks Daryo for all your efforts. What about train grades, have you any idea ?
Daryo Sep 21, 2012:
Taken from a job description:
"Other key responsibilities include:
...
Maximise ore recoveries utilising geological interpretations to ascertain ore contacts. Ensuring accurate blast blocking and grade estimations considering mining methods and possible dilution during extraction. ..."

In other words, be able to decide where to slice a "block" with explosives as to get as much useful ore content as possible
Daryo Sep 20, 2012:
"blast blocking" must be about the art of knowing how much and where to place the explosive charges. I remember seeing a documentary about a mine where they put a lot explosive charges in holes drilled along straight lines. Once detonated at the same time, these charges sliced off a huge block of marble like butter. I don't see any other option that would make sense in the context of mining. On the other hand, I have no idea how to translate it.

Bonjour,

disagree Daryo : that's the "big boom", what follows once the "blocking" is done.
