On p. 45 of Arden’s Tamil Grammar, the author gives பக்கத்துச் சுவர் as meaning “side wall”, but what kind of wall does this mean exactly? A wall to the side of something? Either of the walls at the side of a house as opposed to the front and back walls? Or both?

By the way, how do you pronounce the last letter of the first word and the first letter of the second word? ச்ச் is double “CH”, I know, as in “church”, but does this happen when the two ச் are split up i.e. one at the end of one word and the other at the beginning of the next word? Or are they pronounced as double S? After all, the word சுவர் on its own is pronounced "suvar", isn't it?

2) பக்கத்துச் சுவர் - We pronounce it like 'pakkaththuCH CHuvar'
சுவர் - suvar. தமிழிலக்கணப்படி, பக்கத்து + சுவர் என்ற இரு சொற்கள் இணையும் பொழுது “ச்” என்ற மெய்யெழுத்து (ஒற்றெழுத்து) நிலைமொழியின் ஈற்றெழுத்தாக சேர வேண்டும். இதனால், சுவர் (SUVAR) என்பது ச்சுவர் (CHUVAR)
என்று உச்சரிக்கப்படுகிறது.
