Je pense qu'il s'agit plutôt d'un "battant" (Chacun des deux montants verticaux d'un vantail de fenêtre/Vantail d'une porte). C'est généralement une pièce métallique utilisée à la fixation, dans ce cas précis, des poteaux métalliques.

Je pense que cela fait plutôt référence au fait que les poteaux/pieux métalliques doivent être plantés, enfoncés, posés. J'ai mis "pose", mais il y a peut-être un autre substantif qui reflète mieux l'idée.
