Spanish term

noticiarios fílmicos

Spanish to English Art/Literary Media / Multimedia History Of Cuban TV Stations
Contexto:

"En 1951, Manuel Alonso--dueño de Telenews Co. S.A., director y editor de notciarios fílmicos como América, el País y Royal News--adquiere UNION RADIO TV y la denomina TELEVISION NACIONAL."

Does the author mean "newsreels" or just "filmed news programs?"

Gracias,

Barbara

That's how I understand it: In 1938, at the age of 26, Manolo made history once again with the founding of Cuba's first newsreel production company, the RHC Cadena Azul-Noticiero Nacional, followed by the addition of Noticiario America-El Pais and The Royal News. http://alejandra-espasande-bouza.blogspot.com/2008/10/manolo...

Search the reference link for 'Manuel Alonso', where it reads:

'Its President is Manuel Alonso, owner of the Cuban firm, Noticiario Nacional, producers of newsreels and documentary films. Mr. Alonso
hopes to have the Telenews station on the air early in 1951.'

And here's a definition from Babylon Spanish-English dictionary:

noticiario (m)
n. news bulletin; newsreel, short film depicting the news (formerly shown before movies)
