Sorry about all these discussions. In the document there is Arrête and Arrêté du 17 Rabie El Aouel.... and more, my question was how to translate Arrête as the beginning of a paragraph giving the details of the decree.

Writeaway, the cap might just be because it is the beginning of the sentence. And if it is the legislator who is speaking it is quite legitimate to use a capital letter.

For me it is perfectly clear, it is the verb arrêter in the third person singular. It makes perfect sense in French. Who is the author of the document? Is there a cover page? A title? This might help my colleagues understand where "arrête" comes from. I suspect it is the Algerian parliament, the legislator who is speaking here. Or the executive. Depending on who has the authority to adopt this piece of legislation.

it needs the é If it's the title, the French has a typo-needs the é at the end. The caps make it look like the title. If you check the dictionaries with the right spelling (arrêté), you'll see it means order or decree (context will decide that one).

I suspect this is the 3rd person singular of the verb "arrêter" which means to decide, to rule, to issue a decision (decree, law, regulation, etc.).

neutral writeaway : perhaps but not at all sure. As long as Asker doesn't reply to my questions in the discussion box, we have no way of knowing/99% is a lot. Asker has to help us out. The only difficulty is the ambiguity

I am 99% sure that it is the 3rd person of "arrêter" as it is a very common way of drafting legislation
