Coffee made from freshly ground coffee beans, not instant coffee.

So it is very fresh and percolated coffee, not instant coffee in a jar or in a hot drinks machine.

neutral  Refugio: The question specifically states that it is coffee from a vending machine, and thus it is much more likely to be made with a drip process than percolated.

disagree  Tony M: The question specifically states that it IS a vending machine!

freshly ground beans; freshly percolated coffee

Explanation:
Unusual in a vending machine; the coffee is ground and prepared from whole beans, as opposed to the dried-up instant coffee powder or granules more commonly found in this type of presentation.

freshly ground and brewed

Explanation:
Apparently, the machine in question grinds the coffee and then brews the required quantity for each individual cup purchased.

The writer probably wanted to avoid repetition of "freshly brewed" within a single sentence.

The implication goes beyond the coffee not merely being Nescafe [or some other instant coffee].

How it actually tastes is another matter.

coffee brewed in small batches during the day, neither instant nor simply kept hot

Explanation:
It probably refers to freshly brewed rather than freshly ground. The word ground probably is used to distinguish it from instant coffee.

disagree  Tony M: No, as they're talking specifically about a vending machine, I don't think this would be the case, Ruth. / No, over here, there are no "batches" at all, the machine grinds the coffee fresh for EACH CUP

-> The machine brews small batches. Older machines used to brew big batches and keep them warm.
