French term

engainement

French to English Medical Medical (general) biologie sanguine du patient
Insuffisance rénale évolutive à double composante. Etant donné l'engainement de l'uretère une tentative de mise en place de sond JJ est effectuée. Celle-ci ne permet pas l'amélioration d la fonction rénale.

(Engainement might be referring to section above that says "La jonction uretero-vésicale est difficilement accessible") but I'm not sure.
Thanks for your help

Discussion

Julia Maitland (asker) Oct 18, 2005:
Possibly Helen. Earlier in the text it says that 3 years ago the patient had an operation "pour stnose de l'urtre prostatique par du tissu noplasique" but this concerns the urethra. Nothing about the ureter I'm afraid. Doesn't help us much.

Have you seen previous translation http://www.proz.com/kudoz/666580 ? engainement tumoral perinerveux => perineural neoplastic invasion. Does tumour invasion or disease involvement fit with your context?
