English term

deportation

English to German Science Zoology
Why Is The Persian Fallow Deer in Danger? Originally it was found in Iran, Turkey, Egypt and other countries. But the increase in desert land, **deportation** and hunting (illegal or not) was killing it off. The Persian Fallow Deer was introduced into England through an initiative by the British Museum died. In 1951, the species was declared extinct.

Verschleppung

Peer comment(s):

Umsiedlung: In 1955 the Baron von Opel (the renowned car manufacturer, who also happened to be an amateur zoologist) discovered a small herd of Persian fallow deer taking refuge in the vicinity of the Dez River in western Iran. Von Opel acquired a number of deer for the Opel Park Zoo in Kronberg, Germany, and began breeding
the animals.

Peer comment(s):

"the increase in desert land" is a criminal act as well?
agree Dirgis (X) : Except that it should be a plural, since there were several instances

yes, agree (and that explains your separate answer?)

in support of "Umsiedlungen"

"Remarks

Significantly larger than its European cousin, the status of the Persian fallow deer as a species is still somewhat uncertain, with experts still arguing over whether it is a subspecies of Dama dama - as it has been designated in the past - or a unique species in its own right. The history of this deer is a made of numerous "extinct" phases, each followed by a surprising rediscovery. After enjoying widespread familiarity in ancient times (the Persian fallow deer is depicted in artwork from before the 9th Century BCE), this deer "disappeared" - or rather was forgotten - until 1875 when Robertson, an English Vice Consul, found a new species in southern Persia, and submitted his discovery to the British Museum in London. After being classified as a distinct species, several animals were sent to the London Zoo, where they successfully reproduced and were subsequently sent to the Duke of Bedford's imfamous Woburn Abbey, where they survived until the beginning of the century. In 1951, due to a lack of reports on this species for several decades, the Persian fallow deer was considered extinct. Until 1955, that is, when American researcher Lee Merriam Talbot, on a trip to Iran, heard of a population of deer which he suspected to be Persian fallow deer. He reported his findings to German zoologist Werner Trense, who, following rumours, discovered a population of two dozen deer in an isolated jungle in 1957. Threatened by human encroachment and environmental conditions, it was decided to capture a few of the deer in order to start a captive breeding program. After a several captures followed by successful captive breeding, several deer were released in 1997 in a reserve in Israel, where the population now numbers around 30. Cautious estimates place the world population of this rare deer at 250 animals."
Apparently, these "deportations" were done for conservation reasons, so Umsiedlungen should be the term IMO

Let me just state here, for all to know, I did not post this separate answer to take the point from Melusine, but rather since I saw no other way to get this long quote onto the site. I thought: "In support of Umsiedlungen" implied that, but I guess that did not come across.
I hope we can let it rest at that and get back to work, fun, or whatever we were doing.
So please, asker DO NOT GIVE ME THE POINTS. I don't want them. Thanks

Yes, this is to say that I think you should get the credit. I am not trying to compete with you for credit. How else could I have gotten that long paragraph in here?

Verbringung
