German term

Abs.1 a.E. BGB

German to English Law/Patents Law: Contract(s)
My question is what does a.E. (before BGB- Civil Code) mean in the following:

**§ 823 Abs.1 a.E. BGB lautet **

Unfortunately, I do not know the relevant expression in English - perhaps "at the end" will do?

Law is not really my speciality, but I am at least sure about the German.

agree hirselina : "at the end" or the Latin "in fine"
